The industry reports about GIGABYTE cancelling all P67 projects and moving 100% to next gen Intel 6 series chipset models are misleading and unfounded. GIGABYTE will continue producing some P67 chipset motherboard models until the end of 2011, and the H67 models are expected to be available well into 2012. However, it is true that GIGABYTE is aggressively preparing a full range of motherboards based on next gen Intel 6 series chipsets for the enthusiast, power user and mainstream market segments. These models will boast all the rich features available from Intel’s latest chipset and CPU offerings together with some exciting new GIGABYTE proprietary technologies.
We appreciate the excitement and enthusiasm regarding GIGABYTE’s next generation 6 series chipset motherboards, and look forward to a quick ramp in the weeks and months to come.

ReplyDeleteWhere did Kitguru get their information?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the clarification. People are too easily persuaded by a single source saying unfounded stuff. its great that you guys keep up, and are quick to respond, excellent!
ReplyDeleteI dont see why this would be seen as a negative thing? P67 has been troubled since it was launched, and I had thought the move to the new platform was a good idea and a strong move from gigabyte to be seen as a pioneer in the motherboard area.
ReplyDeleteShame it isn't true, well according to this anyway
Sorry, searched everywhere on the web but cannot find the Gigabyte director or VP who has gone on record to say that between June 2011 and December 2011 there will be new production for P67 chipset mainboards. Can some one post the link please?
ReplyDeleteP67 has not be troubled since it was launched. Z68 is not a new platform. The range of gigabyte z68 motherboards are just the P67 versions but with a Z68 slapped on. They don't supply electrical power to the graphics processor in the CPU, so they will not support QuickSync
ReplyDeleteHello, quick question :
ReplyDeleteZ68-UD7 box says "touch-BIOS", is this UEFI BIOS like on P67 Asus & MSI boards?
If yes, will it be available on P67 Gigabyte boards ? (I most certainly hope so...).
Thank you
@Faith: Hi Faith, I'm Tim Handley, deputy marketing director for GIGABYTE MBs. It is my statement above. Essentially the new 6 series MBs will replace most of our existing P67 range, however we will continue to produce some P67 models until at least Q4, 2011. Hope this clarifies things.
