Eric Garay over on Futurelooks.com has just published his review of the GIGABYTE Z77X-UP5 TH board, paying particular attention to the thermal improvements of our new Ultra Durable 5 technology. It’s a great article which has plenty of positive things to say about our top end Thunderbolt board, but perhaps what’s most interesting, is the image below which compares the thermals a of high-end board from one of our competitors with the new Ultra Durable 5 design on the Z77X-UP5.
The thermal imaging clearly shows that our new high current capable parts, including the IR3550 IC, Powerstages 60A chokes are offering the best thermal efficiency possible – a clear advantage when overclocking, and great for overall system stability. Eric had this to say on the matter:
“When I first looked at GIGABYTE’s new Ultra Durable 5 technology, it was hard to know exactly how or if it would affect motherboard performance or even benefit the platform in some other benign way. Unless you’re some what aware of how digital VRM works, you probably wouldn’t know it offers conservative power consumption, cooler operations, extended component life, or if it could maintain higher Intel Turbo frequencies. While overall performance is comparable to other Z77 platforms, the GA-Z77X-UP5 TH provides tangible power conservation, cooler components during operations, and a steadier overclocking results.”'
Great to see that Eric was impressed enough to deem the GIGABYTE Z77X-UP5 TH worthy of a five start recommendation.
